Shepard Bryan papers 1750-1984.

The Shepard Bryan papers consist of materials relating to Shepard Bryan, family correspondence, and family business papers from 1713-1970. Also included in the collection are materials relating to the Jackson-Cobb, Martian, and Smith families along with some memorabilia. Materials specifically related to Shepard Bryan include writings by and about Bryan, speeches delivered by Shepard Bryan, John H. Bryan, and Henry R. Bryan, a scrapbook about Bryan, photographs of Bryan and a copy of his obituary. Materials relating to his affiliation with DeKalb County Federal Savings and Loan Association include the application for permission to organize, charter and bylaws, minutes of the Board of Directors (15 January 1958), correspondence, and clippings. The bulk of the Shepard Bryan papers are family correspondence and family business papers. The correspondence is between Bryan and his daughters and parents and between family members. Bryan family business papers mainly concern ancestors of Bryan's mother, Mary Norcott Bryan, and pertain to disputes over property and slave documents. Among materials relating to the Bryan, Cobb, and Jackson families are letters, clippings, a scrapbook, family histories, and printed material.

Shepard Bryan, Atlanta judge and businessman, was born 8 December 1871 in New Bern, North Carolina, and died 20 October 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia.
